Rough Metaverse: When SL Breaks Your Legs
February 4, 2008Chug and I were standing around plotting some PI event or other when she took to jumping on the furniture. SL punished her by breaking her legs. Normally, I’m not one for needless physical suffering, but she did bring it on herself, and besides, she staged a miraculous recovery thanks to a wheelchair she found in her inventory.
I’ve seen the “stiff leg” syndrome with “beachball” freezes and of course crashes… and when someone logs off and their av sticks around for a few seconds, you can push them around all stiff-legged, but this is the first time I’ve seen it on an avatar that’s not planning on going “bye bye” intentionally or otherwise. SL just keeps coming up with new ways to prove that 1’s and 0’s can be funneled in the wrong direction with some careful planning.
I guess “SL” stands for “Stiff Leg”..

Here I was all ready to post my condolences for Chugabug’s terrible affliction. We could have all rallied together to offer her our support. I wasn’t sure if her broken legs would have even allowed her to sit in a wheel chair, as locked up as she appeared to be. I thought we might have to look for one of those hand dollies to prop her up on and wheel her around for the rest of her days on Second Life.
I was so relieved when the wheelchair cured her! I could tell she was overcome with joy as well- I heard how choked up she was getting. She couldn’t even speak.

chugabug Goodnight | February 5, 2008Wow, Nika.. Thank you so much for offering to “prop me up” on a hand truck, to live out the rest of my SL days. I’m not so sure I can trust ANY OF YOU to push me around tho. I feel the “strong urge of revenge” would overcome most, and I’d be dumped to the bottom of the sea for everybody to laugh at.
I TOO am so relieved with my “miraculous cure”. And I was so overcome with joy that….. that… well, you heard it, or NOT, I couldn’t speak.
I’m sooo glad Radar had his recorder ready. (?)
