Edloe, You Been Punk’d (Steampunked)

April 6, 2008

The clock tower on Edloe is the welcome area, music venue, centerpiece, cultural hub, and more, for the citizens of Edloe and anyone who visits. And now, it’s been punk’d!! Steampunked, that is. Crap Mariner’s not one for letting the cracker grow stale before tearing things up and starting over. Looks like change is afoot. I’m not sure why change is afoot, and not ahand, or ahead, or ashoulder, but whatever. That’s for the philosophers to debate.

the new clock tower

The venue was bringing the tower in this direction already. Whirring gears, steaming engine thingies, assorted steampunky do-dads perfectly suited for their robotic owner, this look kind of grew from the inside out to the entire tower.

peek into the venue

The landing point is open and … well. Watery. But in a good way.

There’s even some welcoming words in case you thought you were teleporting to the Bellagio and need corrected on that issue. They could use a sign that says “These aren’t the Goons you’re looking for” though, just to make sure.

Walk, Radar, Walk. Walk uphill. Get off the couch and walk. Walk, Radar, Walk.

right this way

I call this the catwalk:

No Edloe tower would be complete without the airship.

room for flight

And of course, the belly of the beastly tower - the music venue (and more).

gearing up for music

It’s a nice build. It suits the island and the venue better. And it’ll be a nice place to visit for music when the desire to have fun is foremost, and the desire to be around uptight avatars with security jackets on is slightly lower on the priority checklist.

behold the glory

I need to jack with the copper texture a bit.

I need to jack with the copper texture a bit. And I want some inlays for the dome that have water flowing through a pipe around the perimeter.

Got to work on Diva’s dock first… that’s gotta wrap around a bit. With some steps.
