I Don’t Want To
November 29, 2008I was mentioning to Itazura the other day that it really is kind of depressing to do something a little different in the Podcast and get feedback questioning whether I have the right to deviate from “rant and make fun of myself” mode.
I’ve noticed also that my blog posts that get the most traffic are the ones where I take issue with something and go off on it. A couple notable exceptions are my video and audio how-to posts, which keep getting read, thankfully.
I guess all I’m saying is that no one should keep up the same approach to any podcast, blog, or other creative endeavor just because they are expected to. Do what you enjoy and can be satisfied with, and if someone listens or reads, great. If not, you’re probably a talentless hack like me.

Don't worry too much about it, I liked the last
Sougent Harrop | November 29, 2008Don’t worry too much about it, I liked the last podcast and never have really liked it when you did the whole rant and put yourself down thing. IMO, you do a better podcast when you’re relaxed and casual and talking with someone about a subject, even when it’s just responding to what others have recorded like the last episode. I’ve listened to all of them, and the best have always been the casual conversations amongst friends about a particular subject. My least favorite have been the long interviews, though they’ve been good and informative, not quite as entertaining.
Just do what keeps you interested in doing the podcast, feedback is great and you should certainly listen to it, but just remember that there may be a bunch more liking what you’re doing and not leaving feedback.
Hello. My name is Anthony. You know me
Anthony Clifton | November 29, 2008Hello. My name is Anthony. You know me in second life as Danny Dwyer. The people who are commenting are weak people who have given in to what I call their inner Nazi. We all have an inner nazi, or inner facist, what I call the undying need of every human being to impose their will, what they believe should happen, their opinions, their “will,” to the detriment of all those around them. Don’t give in to this. Your podcast is your art, your creation, which many people enjoy. Don’t let these negative and self-loathing people silence your voice. If they are so brilliant, they should have the balls to create their own podcasts, which I won’t listen to, why would I want to hear their negative rants. I want to hear opinions different to mine, I want diversity. I want to hear your opinions, and quite frankly, if I have an opinion, I should start my own podcast. You and your partner in SL, Chugabug Goodnight, have introduced and educated me about Second Life, about Linden Labs, and about the internal politics of this virtual world. You have opened up a new virtual world to me, and I am grateful to hear your voice, and I hate to see it go. My opinion, these negative comments need to be criticized and put in their place. They ultimately have no value. Itazura is right, because up until this post, I was one of your listeners who was not leaving feedback, and now I understand this was wrong. The encouraging voices need to be heard. Good luck, and keep up the great work. It is worth it.
